A trading rule can turn its daily loss limit off once an account has built enough of a cushion. For example: a $600 daily loss limit that switches off once the account closes a trading day $500 or more above its starting balance. The option is off by default. Rules that don’t set it behave exactly as before.

Configure it

Set two fields on a trading rule, either in the portal (plan dialog, Daily stops) or with POST /v1/organization/trading-rules and PATCH /v1/organization/trading-rules/{ruleId}: The rule also needs a dailyLoss amount; without one the option has no effect. Rules apply per plan, so you can use the option on evaluation plans, funded plans, or both.

How it works

  • Target: starting balance + dailyLossOffThreshold. A $25,000 account with a threshold of $500 has a target of $25,500.
  • What counts: the end-of-day balance. Open positions don’t count; payouts and balance adjustments do, because they change the balance.
  • When it’s checked: at each daily close. Intraday highs never switch it off.
  • At or above the target: the daily loss limit is off from the next trading day.
  • Below the target: depends on the mode.
Every other rule keeps working as before: max loss and drawdown, daily drawdown (%), profit target, position limits, and the trader’s own risk settings. A daily loss entry buffer (dailyLossEntryBufferTicks) is part of the daily loss limit, so it is off while the limit is off.
The setting applies from the next daily close. Turning it on doesn’t switch the limit off mid-day, even for accounts already above the target. Removing the setting from a rule turns the daily loss limit back on straight away.

Resets and other changes

  • Resetting an account (POST /v1/organization/trading-accounts/bulk-update with resetToInitial) turns the daily loss limit back on. The account starts over.
  • Reverting a trading day doesn’t change the switch-off. With while_above, the next daily close checks the balance again.

Account responses (GET /v1/organization/trading-accounts and GET /v1/organization/trading-accounts/{accountId}) include dailyLossOff:
It is null while the daily loss limit applies. In the portal, the account’s Rules card shows “Daily Loss Limit off: balance target reached”. Traders see Daily Loss Limit · Off — balance target reached in the Hyperprop app.

Webhooks

Each change sends one event per account:
  • account.daily_loss_limit_off when an end-of-day balance reaches the target.
  • account.daily_loss_limit_on when the limit applies again: a while_above account closed below the target, or the rule no longer sets a threshold.
Both carry a dailyLossLimit block. See Webhooks.
